Linphone is an audio and video internet phone using the SIP protocol. Ithas a GTK+ and console interface, includes a large variety of audio and videocodecs, and provides IM features.

The main features of linphone are:

  - a nice graphical interface;  - it includes a large variety of codecs with different quality / bandwidths;  - it uses the well-known and standardised SIP protocol.

    Fully GPLv3 licened. No binary blobs. All types of encryption for privacy. Non-US based jurisdicton. SiP server software also available (GPL v3, without any binary blobs). Communication can be estabilished completely without any snooping by third party, without going through any foreing servers (unlike Telegram, Zoom or WhatsApp).
